What affects how long it takes to create a website?
The time it takes to build a website varies from project to project. However, there are some factors that almost always matter. Here are six elements that often influence how long it actually takes:
- Complexity and functionality
A website with little text and images will take less time than a website that will integrate booking systems, forms or an online store. The more that needs to be built, the more time we need.

Do you already have a clear visual profile ? Or are you starting from scratch? Should everything be customized, or are you open to something simpler? The more detail you want, the more time it will take to customize. - Number of pages and content
A one-page website naturally takes less time than one with ten. Not only because there are more pages to design, but also because each page needs content, customization, and testing. Content often takes longer than you think, especially if it's not ready from the start. - Template vs. custom-made
Should you build your website from scratch, or use a template as a starting point? Templates can be faster and less expensive, but offer less flexibility. A custom website takes more time, but gives you a solution that is tailored specifically to your business.

Do you have time to give feedback, send content, and make quick decisions along the way? Or are there many steps and long pauses? How quickly we get to the finish line is often as much about the customer's availability as our capacity. - Communication and collaboration
Last but not least: communication. Good communication is worth its weight in gold. The more clearly we understand each other, the fewer rounds and misunderstandings. An effective process is not about working fast, but about working smart – together.
Tools, budget and other factors
How long it takes also depends on what tools you use – and how big your budget is. Should you build the website yourself, use a website builder, or outsource the job to a developer? Do you have access to a copywriter, photographer, and graphic designer , or will everything be created from scratch? All of this affects the pace – and the end result.
