How to use the calculator
1. Enter the number of visitors to your website per month. You can check this in Google Analytics or similar.
2. Fill in how many new customers you get as a consequence of a visit to your website. For example, that they found your website via Google or an advertisement and then made contact before becoming a paying customer.
3. Enter the lifetime value per new customer. This is the amount of revenue an average customer leaves in your company during their lifetime. No matter what kind of service or product you offer, this is an important figure to consider.
A simple formula for service providers:
Number of years as a customer * Average revenue per year = Lifetime value
A simple formula for product sales:
Number of products each customer buys in 5 years (or other number of years if relevant) * Average price per product = Lifetime value
How to interpret the results
The results are divided into two sections. One showing the impact of minor improvements on a monthly basis and one on an annual basis.
Examples of the improvement are 1% higher conversion or 30% higher traffic.
1% higher conversion
It may sound complicated, but it simply means that we increase your conversion rate by 1%. For example, from 0.5% to 1.5%.
This means that if you have 1,000 visitors to your website every month, we increase sales from 5 new customers to 15 new customers.
30% higher traffic
This simply means that you increase the number of people visiting your website by 30%. This can be done through advertising, search engine optimization or other measures that ensure you get your message/product in front of more people. This in turn leads to more sales.
The combination
There is also a column showing the opportunity if you increase both traffic by 30% and conversion rate by 1%.
