What is digital design?

Digital design is about creating visual communication through digital surfaces. For example, through websites, 3D design, apps, social media content, ads and animations.

A digital design is often interactive and is designed so that the user can click and scroll down a website via mobile or desktop. The purpose of digital design is to create a design that engages users and improves the user experience.

What does a digital designer do?

A digital designer works with moving communication, as opposed to a graphic designer who works with static design. A digital designer can include sound and sound effects, which can help to reinforce the message and create clearer communication. A digital designer often works with:

  • UX Design: Develop user experience and user interfaces for websites, apps and other digital surfaces.
  • Animation and interactivity: Create animations, graphic elements that move and interactive elements, such as a button.
  • Prototyping and testing: Along the way, it's important to test the products and services being developed to ensure that what you're creating actually works.
  • Collaboration with developers: We also work closely with developers to ensure that the design follows the design system.

An important part of digital design is developing a visual identity that reflects the values of the brand. As well as creating a coherent style across digital channels. This helps to build a visual communication, and contributes to strengthening the overall brand experience.
