What is conversion?

Have you ever wondered what people mean when they talk about "conversion" or "conversion rate"? If so, you're in the right place. Let me break it down for you!

Conversion
Conversion is simply about getting people to take a desired action. This could be anything from buying a product, subscribing to a newsletter, downloading an app, or filling out a form. When a visitor to your website goes from just looking around to actually doing any of these things, they have converted!

Conversion rate
The conversion rate is the percentage of people who actually perform the desired action in relation to the number of people who visited your website. For example, if 100 people visit your online store, and 5 of them buy something, your conversion rate is 5%. The goal is always to increase this rate, as it means you get more out of each visitor who stops by.

Example of conversion
Let's say you run an online store selling beauty products. When a visitor lands on your website, you obviously want them to buy something. If the visitor actually adds one or more products to their cart and completes the purchase, they have converted. And the more visitors who convert in this way, the higher your conversion rate will be!

So the next time someone mentions conversion or conversion rate, you can nod wisely and know that it's all about getting people to take desired actions on your website.
